Ashok Swain awarded special recognition "Friend of Bangladesh"
Our head of department Ashok Swain has been awarded the special recognition, "Friend of Bangladesh" by the Bangladesh Research Analysis and Information Network (BRAIN).
The motivation reads: “Recently, Bangladesh defied the global trend of democratic backsliding and successfully overthrew a despotic regime. This historic achievement was the result of a spontaneous, organic uprising of the people against years of oppression. Unfortunately, for the past 15 years, much of the international community turned a blind eye to the regime's corruption and brutality. However, a few courageous individuals within the global sphere raised their voices, exposing the regime's malfeasance and inspiring Bangladeshi activists to continue their struggle. As we embark on a critical democratic transition through reforms and elections, it is essential to acknowledge the contributions of those who stood in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh.”
We congratulate Ashok on this recognition of his decades-long devotion to supporting democracy around the globe!
