First study protocol published

The first study protocol, in which one of our researchers is the lead author, was just published. It details a study combining mental health and climate-smart agricultural interventions to improve food security in humanitarian settings. This cluster-randomised controlled trial also exemplifies “Innovation Sandboxes", a pioneering method for improving aid, which lead author Jonathan Hall and Gustaf Gredebäck from the Department of Psychology recently presented at Almedalsveckan.

Other co-authors include Phaidon T. B. Vassiliou and Stefan Döring, as well as Herbert E. Ainamani (Kabale University), Kirsi Peltonen (University of Turku), Florian Scharpf (Bielefeld University), Umay Sen (Department of Psychology), Matthias Sutter (Max Planck Institute), James I. Walsh (University of North Carolina) and Tobias Hecker (Bielefeld University)

Congratulations, Jonathan Hall and co-authors, on this innovative study!

The study protocol is available on the Trials Journal website.

This study is part of our research project Strengthening resilience to climate change by improving mental health – Evidence from a randomized intervention in southwestern Uganda:

Study protocols are common in fields reliant on clinical trials, such as medicine. It is a detailed document, outlining a research project's rationale, objectives, design, methodology, statistical considerations, and ethical procedures. The results of the studies are presented in separate research papers.
