The DPCR welcomes Sandra Håkansson
On 1 February, Sandra Håkansson started in her role as Associate Senior Lecturer at the department.
Sandra has published extensively on gender, politics and political violence. She is currently analysing the Swedish parliament’s policy response to violence against politicians, and race and gender patterns in how American politicians are affected by violence. Sandra is part of the SNS Democracy Council, who will launch a report about the state of democracy in the Swedish parliament in April, and she has also frequently provided her expertise on these issues in the media.
Furthermore, Sandra examines politicians’ and party selectors’ attitudes to allowing hostile rhetoric and violence in politics, and leads a major research project which focuses on Colombia in order to better understand how violent actors distort the path to political power.
We are confident our staff and students will benefit tremendously from all that Sandra brings to the DPCR.
