Abstract
Dr Guy Dammann will present a talk entitled ‘Mapping Aesthetic Concepts’, focusing on the ongoing research project Aesthetic Cognitivism and the Prospects of Criticism. Special attention will be paid to the database of critical texts he is developing together with staff from the Uppsala Centre for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences.

In addition to giving a preview of the database’s functionality and preliminary results, he will talk about its relevance to one of the project’s core hypotheses, namely that criticism and its deployment of aesthetic concepts shape the conceptual and perceptual pathways through which we experience art.
