Grant for research infrastructure of national interest from the Swedish Research Council

The Swedish Research Council decided on September 22, 2021 to finance six projects for research infrastructure of national interest with the main applicant or fellow applicant at the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

The granted projects are:

Infrastructure: IceCube
Project title: Infrastructure to enhance IceCube
Main applicant: Vice-Chancellor Uppsala University, Project Manager Olga Botner, Division of High Energy Physics
The project funds will be used for research within IceCube, where Uppsala University is included together with Stockholm University.

Infrastructure: Super ADAM
Project title: Super ADAM
Main applicant: Björgvin Hjörvarsson, Division of Materials Physics

Infrastructure: MOSAIC – Instrumentation for ELT
Project title: Swedish participation in the multi-object spectroscopic instrument for the ELT
Main applicant: Göran Östlin, Stockholm University
Fellow applicant: Nikolai Piskunov, Division of Astronomy and Space Physics

Infrastructure: Isolde
Project title: ISOLDE experimentet vid CERN
Main applicant: Joakim Cederkäll, Lund University
Fellow applicants: Johan Nyberg, Uppsala University, Division of Nuclear Physics, Thomas Nilsson, Chalmers and Dag Hanstorp, University of Gothenburg
Grant amount: 2 800 000 SEK for the period 2023-2027

Infrastructure: Fusion reactors/EUROfusion
Project title: Infrastructure for research and development of ITER and DEMO fusion reactors
Main applicant: Pär Strand, Chalmers University of Technology
Fellow applicant: Göran Ericsson, Division of Applied Nuclear Physics
Grant amount: Around 26,7 MSEK for the period 2022-2026 whereof UU/ANP gets around 1,3 MSEK per year
