Seminar: Transitions in inhomogenous magnetic systems

The idea is to discuss emergent order in magnetic structures, with more than one relevant scale of interactions. The form will be seminar like, expecting/encouraging vivid contributions from the participants. Following key ideas will be dwelled upon: (1) random and periodic changes in magnetic interactions (2) effects of confinement in homogenous and non-homogenous magnetic structures. There are highly interesting questions which can be adressed by combining experimental and theoretical efforts, of which many can be viewed as being “low hanging fruits”. The focus will be on identifying these.
