Kjetil Falkenberg, Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan: “Can music prevent shoplifting? Explorative conceptualizations of the soundscape in shops”
Abstract
In this seminar, associate professor Kjetil Falkenberg summarizes a unique set of studies completed within two research projects involving the Sound and Music Computing group at KTH, the Institute of Retail Economics, the Department of Management at the University of Agder, and two sound designers. The projects' aims are to explore the possibilities of using added sound and music to prevent shoplifting and provide better working conditions. Due to the pandemic, the planned studies had to be moved from the field to virtual environments, which in turn opened up to new perspectives.
