Dr Kaja Korošec, Department of Education, Royal College of Music:
“The Roles of Music in the Well-being of Autistic Adults”
- How might musical interventions enhance life quality, subjective well-being och self-compassion, as well as reduce social anxiety in adults with autism?
Although music has been used in support services for autistic individuals for many decades, their personal experiences of how music impacts their well-being have not been studied in depth. This talk will centre on addressing this research gap by highlighting a number of studies conducted with autistic participants and co-researchers. By synthesising findings from prior studies, this presentation aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role music plays in relation to the well-being of autistic adults while also identifying areas for future research and practice.
