Mats Martinell is awarded Region Uppsala’s research prize
Mats Martinell, District Physician and Senior Lecturer with a combined position in Region Uppsala, is being honoured for his research on facilitating tailored diabetes treatment through the diabetes study All New Diabetics in Uppsala County (ANDiU). In addition, Martinell, together with Professor Tove Fall, was the responsible researcher for the CRUSH Covid project during 2020-2022, a unique interdisciplinary research project in which Region Uppsala collaborated with researchers from five different research departments at Uppsala University. The project has received a lot of attention, both nationally and internationally, and has been highlighted by researchers, authorities and politicians.
Mats is the representative for the research group in general medicine at IFV. His scientific publications have had a significant practical impact on healthcare, not least through the CRUSH Covid project, and have contributed to significant improvements both in terms of preventing the spread of respiratory viruses and the treatment of diabetes.
