IRES gathered over 100 scholars to discuss Russia and Eastern Europe

On September 13 and 14 Main University Building in Uppsala turned into a scientific forum for the discussions on the developments in Russia and Eastern Europe during the past 50 years. IRES in cooperation with the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES) gathered over 100 scholars at the BASEES European regional conference entitled "Regimes and Societies in Conflict: Eastern Europe and Russia since 1956" to reflect on the changes in the region that have led from Stalinist dictatorships to the very varied polities of contemporary Eastern Europe and Russia. The conference was of a multidisciplinary nature covering a whole variety of disciplines from economics and law to anthropology and literary studies. Visit conference homepage for more information.
