About the book:

When something goes wrong in the criminal justice process, anger is one of the usual suspects. Associated with impulsiveness unpredictability and prejudice, anger serves as the prime antagonist to fair and objective legal judgements. Yet, the actual role that anger plays in modern legal systems is more intricate. As a motivating force, anger identifies wrong-doing and attribute blame, actions that form a core rationale for legal decision-making. Building on the perspective of judges and prosecutors in Italy, Sweden, the United States, and Scotland, our new book ‘Rational Anger’ sets out to study this curious emotion in the legal sphere.

Book is available on open access at Rational Anger: An International Comparison of Legal Systems - 1st Edi
