AI Prognosis

AI-PROGNOSIS is a Horizon Europe research and innovation project that aims to enhance the diagnosis and care of Parkinson’s disease through novel predictive models combined with digital biomarkers from everyday devices.

Following an inclusive approach to AI development and leveraging interdisciplinary expertise along with broad stakeholder engagement, we aim to fulfill our vision by:

  • Developing new, predictive AI models for personalized risk assessment and prognosis of Parkinson’s disease (regarding disease progression and patients’ response to medication), based on multi-source patient records and databases, including comprehensive health, phenotypic, and genetic data.
  • Implementing a system of digital biomarkers to inform the AI models by tracking key risk and progression markers, such as REM sleep behavior disorder and central motor symptoms, in daily life based on data from smartphones and wearable devices.
  • Translating the models and digital biomarkers into a validated, privacy-conscious AI-driven toolkit to support healthcare professionals in disease screening, monitoring, and treatment optimization through quantitative, explainable evidence and offering individuals with or without Parkinson's disease tailored insights.

AI-PROGNOSIS aims to create an ecosystem of digital health tools for people with and without Parkinson’s disease, as well as healthcare professionals, to improve disease screening and care. Powered by these new AI models, these tools will offer personalized insights into disease risk, progression, and treatment, using data from smartphones and smartwatches.

The project is funded by the EU.
