Scholarship for a book on the Rök runestone
Henrik Williams, professor emeritus of Runology, has been awarded a scholarship of SEK 100,000 from the Klockrosen foundation. The scholarship is for his book Rökstenen och världens undergång (the Rök runestone and the end of the world).
From the motivation for the award: “A new and coherent interpretation of the world’s longest runic text acquaints us with people who lived 1,000 years ago. With his joy of storytelling, he initiates us into the world of myth and story that marked their time.”
The Klockrosen foundation has also awarded scholarships to authors Eva Ekselius and Jannete Hentati, and to the musical theatre group Yria and the El Sistema foundation in Sweden. El Sistema is a publicly financed, voluntary sector, music education programme that was founded in Venezuela in 1975. The scholarships are worth SEK 100,000 each.
