Stefan James receives Jubilee Prize: “Honoured”

Professor Stefan James has been awarded the Swedish Society of Medicine’s Jubilee Prize 2025 for his groundbreaking work in clinical studies that have improved the treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease, both in Sweden and internationally.
Stefan James is Professor of Cardiology at the Department of Medical Sciences, as well as Senior Consultant in Interventional Cardiology at Uppsala University Hospital. He is now the recipient of the annual award of SEK 175,000 and the Society’s centennial silver medal.
“I am deeply honoured and delighted by this recognition. To receive this prize from the Swedish Society of Medicine is one of the greatest honours I can imagine, precisely because it is awarded by colleagues and is based on science with clinical relevance,” says Stefan James.

Stefan James is awarded the Jubilee Prize for his pioneering evaluation of new treatment strategies using pharmaceuticals and medical devices. His work has significantly improved the care of patients with cardiovascular disease in Sweden and worldwide. Stefan James conducts world-leading research, in part supported by our quality registries, and serves as an outstanding role model as a research leader.

The Swedish Society of Medicine has awarded the Jubilee Prize since 1858. Its purpose is to recognise valuable works authored by Swedish citizens within the field of medical research.
