The African Literary Metadata project is a five-year Digital Humanities research project, involving literary researchers, digital engineers, information scientists, and librarians! In this presentation we will explain what we mean by African Literary Metadata, how we plan to collect, collate and link that data, and why this matters for the fields of African literature, African studies, and for the cultural heritage of the continent at large. The African Literary Metadata project is a five-year Digital Humanities research project, involving literary researchers, digital engineers, information scientists, and librarians. The project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.
