Read and download e-resources

Access and login

Our e-resources (e-books, e-journals and databases) are available to everyone. You do not need a library account to access them, but you may need to log in in other ways depending on whether or not you are connected to Uppsala University or Region Uppsala:

When you are on campus, you do not need to log in anywhere. However, if you want to use our e-resources remotely, these options are available:

Log in via the Library's website

  • Go to Uppsala University Library's website and click on the link to the e-journal, database or e-book that you are interested in.
  • If you are not on campus you will be prompted to log in.
  • In most cases, joint web login is used. This means that you log in with your university ID and password A. However, some journals and databases use separate login credentials.

VPN service

You can also access our resources outside the university network by connecting your computer with a VPN service. This service is only available to university staff. When you are connected, no further login is required.

To access the e-resources that Region Uppsala subscribes to, go to Sök information – E-biblioteket. At your workplace you automatically have access. However, outside your workplace you need to log in. Use the same credentials as those needed for your computer and e-mail.

You are welcome to use our e-resources on site at the library using our public computers (It is not possible to access the e-resources using our guest-WiFi). Create a temporary guest account for the computers at one of our staffed libraries during the hours the information desk is staffed. Bring a photo ID.

Read or download e-resources

All books can be read in your browser as long as you have an internet connection. However, if you want to download a book, you need specific apps or reading software. In many cases you will also need an Adobe account.
