Cultural heritage enriches the world, building bridges and encouraging cooperation

With these words, Joakim Malmström, Director General of the Swedish National Heritage Board, declared the opening of Uppsala University Library's new exhibition "From the rising of the sun: The O Collection at Uppsala University Library".

Some of the most sacred, oldest, and most precious manuscripts at Uppsala University Library are written in Arabic, Sanskrit, Pali, Ottoman Turkish, Persian, Tibetan, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Ethiopic. This exhibition shows a selection from these manuscripts.

The exhibition was inaugurated on November 9, with a welcoming speech from Library Director Lars Burman and a presentation by Emil Lundin, PhD in Semitic Languages and co-creator of the exhibition.
