Donation of Buddhist scriptures

On May 12 2025 Uppsala University received World Tipitaka 2016 Edition, a new edition of the Buddhist scriptures Tipitaka. The edition is donated to libraries and institutions around the world.
Two Tipitaka editions have previously been donated to Uppsala University and are kept at Uppsala University Library.
The new edition contains a phonetic transcription and notation for singing recitation of the texts.
The donation ceremony at Carolina Rediviva was attended by H E ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, and representatives from the publisher World Tipitaka Foundation including president Thanpuying Varaporn Pramoj Na Ayudhya.
The publication consists of 80 volumes. During the ceremony Vice-Chancellor Anders Hagfeldt, and Library Director Johanna Hansson symbolically were presented with one volume each, while Cecilia Wejryd, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, received a collection of sound files demonstrating the sung recitations.
