Botany and embroidery have a long and interesting history! Try your hand at some motifs from Linnaean and historical sources! Workshop in the Orangery. Price: 350 SEK. Material and coffee/tea included. Registration via form at Swedish Linnaeus Society.

During this workshop you work with motifs from Linnaean and historical sources - all material you need is included and you can finish your work at home. The workshop also includes a short presentation on embroidery, textiles, and botanical motifs from a historic perspective.

The workshop is mainly in Swedish but instructions can also be given in English.

The workshop is held by Anna Svensson and Annika Windahl Pontén, who both combine historical research and textile practices.

The instructors' backgrounds

Anna Svensson, PhD in History of Ideas, has transformed botanical motifs from historical sources to embroidery, using her research on the history of the herbarium and on plant dying as starting point.

Annika Windahl Pontén, PhD in History of Ideas, has studied clothes and textiles in the Linnaeus household. She is a former teacher at the Department for Textile Studies at Uppsala University.
