During Uppsala's own light festival the work Barriere by Philip Ross (NL) will be shown in the courtyard at the Linnaeus Garden. The piece only comes to life when we encounter the light together. The audience have to activate, influence, and interact with the light.
Philip Ross, Netherlands
Philip Ross is a Dutch artist and designer working at the intersection of light, interactivity, and technology. His installations are marked by an exploratory approach, where the audience is not just observing – but activating, influencing, and interacting with the work. Ross is drawn to the invisible: the boundaries, forces, and connections that shape our lives but often go unnoticed. Through light – as both material and metaphor – he reveals how what seems unyielding can begin to move, open up, and change.
His work has been featured at international festivals and exhibitions, creating spaces for shared experience, reflection, and wonder. In Barriere, shown in the Linnaeus Garden, he continues this exploration – a piece that only comes to life when we encounter the light together.
