Nearly 400 students have registered for this autumn’s master’s programs taught in English at Uppsala University. Most of them are from countries in Southeast Asia.

This year more students have registered for the English-medium master’s programs compared with last year’s 250 students.  Some 20 of them are Swedish, but a major proportion of the students come from China, primarily in the science and technology field.  For master’s courses in the arts and social sciences, many are from Europe.

One new feature is the Welcome Week that was held for the newly arrived master’s students.  This is the first time the University has arranged such a comprehensive welcoming program.  Among other things, students received information about what it’s like to study at the University, guided tours of Uppsala, welcome parties at the nations (student clubs), and a reception with Vice-Chancellor Anders Hallberg.
