On Wednesday the 4th of May, an all-day symposium on biomarkers, involving researchers invited from Hallym University in South Korea, will be held at Uppsala University. It will be the fourth joint conference aiming to develop medical research collaboration between the two universities.
“South Korea conducts highly advanced research within fields in which we also have a strong research position,” says Kjell Öberg, Professor of Endocrine Oncology, who is in charge of planning.
Hallym University is one of South Korea’s highest-ranked universities, with particular strength in medicine. The three previous conferences led to concrete research collaboration with regard to, for example, cardiovascular diseases, stroke and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
“This time, the symposium will focus on basic and clinical biomarker research, a field that is significant for practically all disease research,” says Kjell Öberg.
