Natural sciences and technology receive SEK 308 million
The Swedish Research Council has decided to grant Uppsala University a total of SEK 308 million for research in natural sciences and technology, by far more than any other Swedish university.
The total amount of money shared across Swedish universities for natural sciences research is SEK 1.5 billion.
‘It is fantastic to see the great outcome, the largest allocation of funding among Swedish universities by far’, says Hans Ellegren, professor of evolutionary biology and pro-dean of research in the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology. ‘It is an acknowledgement of the fact that the initiatives and prioritisations the faculty previously has made are now bearing fruit.’
Out of a total of 1,939 applications in the three project categories, 421 have been granted funding. 82 of the projects receiving funding are at Uppsala University.
‘It is a great accomplishment for the entire faculty, the outcome has been good across all fields’, says Hans Ellegren. ‘Uppsala University strengthens its position as the country’s leading university in natural sciences and technology.’
