Bengt Mannervik appointed professor at The Scripps Research Institute
Bengt Mannervik, senior professor of biochemistry at the Department of Chemistry, has been appointed professor of chemical physiology at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California.
The Scripps Research Institute is one of the world’s largest private, non-profit research organizations, internationally recognized for its research in immunology, and molecular and cellular biology. Especially significant is the institute’s research on the basic structure of biological molecules.
In November 2012 Professor Bengt Mannervik was awarded the Björkén Prize, Uppsala University’s finest scientific award, together with Professor Anders Lindroth. He has also previously been elected as honorary member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
