Last year’s winners – “UU-båt” from Uppsala University

Uppsala Academic Rowing Race is drawing closer. The 25 May is the date when Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences will battle on the Fyris River – come and cheer on your favourite team!

Honour and glory are at stake when students and employees at the two universities race to see who is the quickest to cover the 300 metres between Haglundsbro and S:t Olofsbron on the Fyris River.

The race is open to students and employees, who race in two different classes. All boats are rowed by two men and two women, and a professional coxswain helps each team to keep their rhythm and steer the boat.

This is the eighth consecutive year that the race is organised in Uppsala. 45 teams have registered for the race; 36 from Uppsala University and 8 from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. This year there will also be a team from Akademiska hus, who are co-organising the race together with Uppsala Academic Rowing, Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

Uppsala has an active rowing community with good opportunities for rowing. Rowing is a classic university sport which gathers students from many countries. The race showcases the active student life in Uppsala.

Come and cheer on your favourite team on the Fyris River the 25 May!
