“Campus Gotland must be an integrated part of Uppsala University. Our vision is to create a unique profile within our University and a long-term, competitive operation on Gotland, thereby contributing to the development of Sweden as a nation of knowledge”, says Eva Åkesson, Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University.
Thanks to its placement in the Baltic Sea, Campus Gotland and its small-scale and multi-disciplinary environment will become a unique part of Uppsala University. It shall house an academic environment for research and education with the same level of quality as the Universtiy as a whole. Campus Gotland will function as a greenhouse for developing good ideas that can benefit the entire University, with particular focus on development of web-based learning and Liberal Arts education.
“The merger is a historic event and I am confident that operations at Campus Gotland will enrich Uppsala University’s continued development”, says Eva Åkesson.
