Uppsala University’s website gets a new look
Today, Friday 22 November, the University’s main website has been launched in a completely new form after an extensive remake. A responsive design which adapts to fit mobile devices as well as a clearer focus on target audiences are among the improvements.
“We have refined
our main website to suit ourexternal visitors, focusing on whatismost in demandandmostsought after. The user perspective hasbeen the basis for the new website, in the same way thatuser needs steer the internal staff website”,saysDirectorof Communication PernillaBjörk.“One improvement is the adaptation to mobile devices, since we have seen that more and more people are using phones and tablets to visit our website.”
Among other improvements are the new, university-wide header and navigation, a functional footer and clearer entry points which help the user find their way.
Structural changes have been made continuously throughout the last year with the purpose of creating a new, more user-centred website. Now the last pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place with new and reworked content and a new design – in accordance with Uppsala University’s visual identity.
During the coming year, work will continue by incorporating the departments’ websites into the new and more coherent design. This will for example improve the departments’ abilities to expose research information.
