SEK 140 million for research in science and technology

The Swedish Research Council has now reached its decisions regarding grants for research in science and technology. Of the 2 028 applications submitted, 303 have been granted funding. Uppsala University has been awarded a total of SEK 140 million in grants for 43 projects.


This year’s major call in science and technology included the grant forms “Project Grants”, “Project Grants for Young Researchers” and “Industrial Doctoral Projects”. 

Uppsala University was awarded a total of SEK 140 million for 43 grants, allocated to 32 project grants, 10 project grants for young researchers and one industrial doctoral project. 

Uppsala University research scored its greatest success in biology, garnering 12 of the 43 grants. The most successful department was the Department of Ecology and Genetics, with eight grants.

“Uppsala consolidates its position as one of the country’s very strongest universities in science and technology”, says Hans Ellegren, deputy dean for research at the Faculty of Science and Technology. “It’s also extremely gratifying that so many young researchers managed to secure funding.”
