Uppsala University elected vice chair of Sanord
Sanord, the Southern African-Nordic Centre, has elected Uppsala University among its 41 member institutions to be vice chair of the organisation for 2015 and 2016. This means Uppsala University will automatically become chair of the Sanord board in 2017 and 2018.
Sanord’s 41 member institutions elected Uppsala University with an overwhelming majority. Eva Åkesson, who is Uppsala University’s representative on the board, will thereby become vice chair in the two coming years.
Being elected as vice chair entails becoming the chair in the two subsequent years, which means that Uppsala University will be chair of the organisation in 2017–2018.
Sanord is an organisation for cooperation among universities and institutions in Southern Africa and the Nordic countries, primarily to promote research and research collaboration, but also for student mobility through scholarships that enable African students to study at the Nordic member institutions.
