Nordic Law Prize awarded to Stig Strömholm

At a ceremony in Oslo 21 August, in connection with the opening of the 40th Nordic Law Meeting, H.M. King Harald V awarded the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundations’ Prize for Contributions to Jurisprudence, the Nordic Law Prize, to Stig Strömholm, professor emeritus and former Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University.
The prize was awarded for the first time in 1981 and has now been awarded for the twelfth time in connection with the Nordic Law Meetings that have taken place every third year in one of the Nordic capitals. The rules for the prize state that it shall be awarded to Nordic jurists as recognition for particularly prominent practical or theoretical jurisprudential authorship.
The Foundation for Jurisprudential Research, founded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, selects the award winner. The prize sum is one million Swedish kronor.
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation is Swedish largest private research benefactor and has over the last five years contributed more than SEK five billion to Swedish research and researchers.
