124 new PhDs at the Spring Conferment Ceremony
The 29 May is the day of Uppsala University’s Spring Conferment Ceremony. 124 new PhDs and 11 jubilee doctors will be conferred under festive forms in the University Grand Auditorium. The celebrations continue through the evening with dinner at Uppsala Castle.
At the festive conferment ceremony in the University Grand Auditorium the new PhDs receive honorary symbols; a doctoral hat or a laurel wreath as well as a diploma. As PhDs they are also entitled to a third symbol, the ring. Those who received their PhD degrees fifty years ago are invited to the ceremony as jubilee doctors.
In the evening there will be dinner and dancing at Uppsala Castle. Almost 700 people usually take part in the conferment ceremony dinner – the new PhDs and jubilee doctors with their families, specially invited honorary guests as well as teachers and other employees.
