Uppsala University coordinates project for capacity building in South Africa

EMISHA is a capacity building project within the Erasmus+ Programme. This aims to stimulate and facilitate the exploitation of knowledge in order to create mutual value for South African universities and South African society/industry. It will do so by building up support for commercialisation and collaboration. The project is to run for two years and is funded by the EU. It has a budget of over SEK 5 million. Other universities taking part are the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and Universidad de Valladolid in Spain.

“EMISHA will further strengthen the collaboration between Uppsala University and South African universities. Uppsala University will also continue to develop its collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and Universidad de Valladolid. Structural collaboration in order to stimulate innovation both from universities to industry and vice versa is needed to face the challenges of the future. EMISHA will give students and researchers access to concrete tools for creating collaboration models with society/industry,” says vice-chancellor Eva Åkesson.
