Welcome to alumni receptions in Minnesota and Washington, D.C.
As part of an Uppsala County delegation visit to the US, Uppsala University will hold receptions in Minnesota and Washington D.C. Alumni and friends of the University are very welcome!
The reception in Minnesota
A delegation from Uppsala County is set to visit Minnesota between 17 and 22 September. The delegation will be made up of representatives of the Uppsala University Management and various parts of the University Administration, UU Innovation, as well as representatives of the various disciplinary domains. Part of the delegation are also representatives from Uppsala Municipality, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and the Uppsala County Administrative Board.
The goal of the visit is to manifest and deepen the collaboration between Minnesota and Uppsala County by gathering the major actors of the county to develop and bring together the various connections Uppsala county has to this part of the US. An additional purpose is to promote Uppsala County and highlight the potential for mutually beneficial exchange and learning between Uppsala and Minneapolis.
As part of the visit, Uppsala University’s Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson also invites alumni and friends to a reception in Minnesota.
The reception is being arranged in collaboration with The American Swedish Institute and Uppsala University Alumni Chapter Minnesota.

The reception in Washington, D.C.
On 23–25 September, a delegation from Uppsala University will also visit Washington D.C. The intent is not only to meet with Uppsala alumni and other friends, but also to establish relations with other universities and people working in innovation, as well as reach potential financiers and partners for collaboration, e.g. for the project U-CAN.
On 24 September, Uppsala University will hold a joint reception at the House of Sweden with The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Washington, D.C. and the Wharton Club of D.C..
During the reception, Dr. Kathie Olsen, founder and CEO of the organisation Scienceworks, will act as moderator for a discussion featuring Tobias Sjöblom, UU Innovation head Pirkko Tamsen, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University, Anders Malmberg: Uppsala University Raises the Bar for Research – How Interaction, Collaboration, and Challenge-driven Research Creates Value for Society.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ander Malmberg will host the event. The proceedings will be opened by Göran Lithell, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, D.C.
