Uppsala delegation embarking on three-pronged US trip

A delegation of researchers, directors and staff members will travel to the US this week – a coordinated trip which will include three distinct destinations and purposes. The first leg of the trip will see the delegation visiting Minneapolis together with representatives of Uppsala Municipality and the County Administrative Board.
‘We enjoy a fruitful collaboration and exchange with the University of Minnesota that goes back a long time, notably in jurisprudence, and we would like to deepen this collaboration further. They conduct successful work in internationalization and fundraising that I believe we can learn much from. We are also looking forward to exchanging ideas about urban collaboration, and it will be all the more rewarding as we’ve brought our Uppsala partners’, Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson says.
Following this, a smaller group made up solely of representatives of Uppsala University will go on to visit Darthmouth College, one of the partner universities in the Matariki network. The collaboration involves exchange programs for students, researchers, staff and teachers, benchmarking, societal responsibility, activities in culture and athletics, joint educational programs and more.
Finally, the journey will come to an end in Washington D.C., where Deputy Vice-Chancellor Anders Malmberg and another group of researchers will join up, while the Vice-Chancellor is set to travel to France to meet with representatives of the Swedish Institute. In Washington, D.C., a seminar will be held in the House of Sweden for alumni and financiers. The event is a follow-up to a similar get-together held a few years ago.
‘This time, we’ll highlight the cutting-edge cancer research being conducted at our University among other things, and we are pleased to see that the program has attracted a good amount of attention’, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Anders Malmberg says.
