In stiff competition, SWEDESD together with international partners have been granted funding to conduct research over three years on social learning and sustainability transformations.

The grant of approximately SEK 8 million will fund the project ”Transgressive Social Learning for Social-Ecological Sustainability in Times of Change” – a research collaboration between 9 countries to initiate, frame and investigate expansive and transgressive approaches to learning to strengthen agency for sustainability transformations at multi-levels.

The grant approved by International Social Science Council (ISSC) funds PhD researchers, postdoctoral research, international exchange and development of theory and methodology.

The role of SWEDESD in this project led by Environmental Learning and Research Centre (ELRC) at Rhodes University, South Africa is to coordinate and develop a new platform for transformative learning.
