University Main Building to close for renovations

The renovation of the University Main Building is preliminarily expected to be completed by spring 2017.

The University Main Building will close for interior renovations on 1 February 2016.


During the period of renovation, the University Main Building and its immediate area will be closed to the public, members of staff and students.

Replacement lecture and seminar rooms have been prepared at the Evolutionary Biology Centre.

Academic ceremonies and other major events will be held in the Cathedral, Uppsala Castle and Uppsala Concert & Congress (UKK) during the period of renovation.

The Walmstedt House on Sysslomansgatan 1 will serve as state rooms for the Vice-Chancellor.

The archives and Coin Cabinet will remain in the University Main Building, but access will be by appointment only and restricted to, for instance, researchers.
