New scholarship created to mark the King of Sweden's birthday
The King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf was celebrated today at Stockholm Palace. H.M. the King, a patron and alumnus of Uppsala University, received a gift from his alma mater in the form of a new scholarship fund – The King Carl Gustaf Scholarship.
A delegation consisting of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Anders Malmberg, Caisa Lycken from the Uppsala Student Union, and Erik Lindmark from Stockholms Nation congratulated H.M. the King and presented him with one gift each.
Uppsala University presented him with a certificate that the University has established a scholarship in H.M. the King’s name. The scholarship will run for five years. Every year, three students will have the opportunity to study at Uppsala University for one or two academic years. The scholarship will be open to students from countries outside of Europe, and students from countries where academic studies are hampered by political conflicts or natural disasters will be given priority.
’It seemed to us that the gift was well-received,’ says Anders Malmberg.
