Computers have become the foundation for nearly all scientific and societal advances. David Black-Schaffer´s research area is how to increase the computational power with heterogeneous computing.

David Black-Schaffer is a senior lecturer at the Department of Information of Information Technology at Uppsala University. He was recently appointed Future Research Leader by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF). Now SSF has made a film about his research in heterogeneous computing.

By matching the computation to the processor, the researchers can specialize the processors for a more limited range of computations and design them to be more power efficient for just those computations. The goal is to make these systems easier to program to enable more people to benefit from their increased efficiency and performance.
