Gustavianum voted one of Sweden’s best museums
Uppsala University’s Museum Gustavianum has been ranked sixth among Sweden’s museums by users of the website Trip Advisor. The museum has also been named ‘Travellers choice’.
Of all Swedish museums, only five have been ranked higher than Museum Gustavianum by Trip Advisor’s users: The Vasa Museum, Skansen, the Abba Museum, Fotografiska and the Swedish Air Force Museum.
‘This is great news! In 2015 we have been able to offer more generous opening hours and even better customer service. This shows in our reviews on Trip Advisor’, says Museum Director Marika Hedin.
Museum Gustavianum has since last year opened its collections to research, becoming a place for the whole University as well as inviting the general public and engaging students in tours and events. In 2015 the museum set a new record, welcoming more than 80,000 visitors.
Currently the museum is planning new exhibitions in collaboration with researchers from all three of the University’s disciplinary domains, and has also entered into collaborations with the museums at the University’s of Oxford, Yale and Tokyo.
‘We are a university museum, and that fact must show in everything we do. Gustavianum houses a wealth of collections and we want to show even more of them’, says Marika Hedin.
