Uppsala University is investing SEK 7.5 million in migration law research. The aim is to sustainably strengthen society’s ability to manage migration.

Migration is one of today’s greatest societal challenges and affects all parts of our society. But extensive knowledge on migration law, both domestic and international, is required if society is to effectively manage migration.

Uppsala University is therefore investing SEK 7.5 million over a four-year period to further build on the successful research in migration law. The money will be used for the recruitment of doctoral students and for research grants to researchers.

In 2011, Uppsala University and Lund University launched the joint research environment ‘Lund/Uppsala Migration Law Network’. The current investment will mean a consolidation of this leading role in migration law research.

The investment will also bring opportunities to intensify the collaboration with migration research in other subjects and enhance cooperation with organisations and authorities.
