Uppsala University to host conference on modernising PhD studies in Azerbaijan

On 26–28 September, Uppsala University will host an international conference which aims to improve doctoral studies in Azerbaijan in line with European standards. Ten Azerbaijani universities and six European universities will take part in the conference together with the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan.
The conference is part of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building project Nizami, coordinated by the University of Montpellier. Over the course of three years (2015–2018), the project will organise a dozen conferences to discuss future perspectives and recommendations for a national reform of doctoral studies in Azerbaijan.
The conference held in Uppsala will focus on internationalisation of doctoral studies and will be hosted by the Uppsala Centre for Russian and Eurasian Studies and the University’s International Office. Among the attendants from Uppsala University are Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson, Leif Kirsebom, Director of Uppsala Biomedical Centre, Anssi Laurila, Professor of Biology, and Claes Levinsson, Lecturer at Uppsala Centre for Russian and Eurasian Studies.
