Inger Österdahl awarded medal

The Torgny Segerstedt Medal is presented every other year to Swedish scholars for specially meritorious work in the arts and social sciences. This year’s recipient is Inger Österdahl, Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law.
Inger Österdahl has concentrated her research on two main areas: jus ad bellum and jus in bello, or the law of war, and the principle of public access in an international context and protection of fundamental rights. The relationship between law and politics is also a recurring theme. Inger has arranged and participated in numerous academic conferences and also contributes to the general debate through articles in the daily press.
Inger Österdahl will be honoured alongside the recipients of Uppsala University's Oscar Prize and the Geijer Prize at the winter conferment ceremony on 27 January next year.

The Torgny Segerstedt medal was instituted in honor of Torgny Segerstedt for his work as Vice-Chancellor of Upppsala University for 23 years and was first awarded in 1988. The medal is awarded every other year to 'Swedish scholars for especially meritorious work in the arts and social sciences.'
