Professor Per Artursson elected AAAS Fellow

Professor Per Artursson of the Department of Pharmacy has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He has been elected AAAS fellow by peer members of the organisation, “for distinguished contributions to the field of pharmaceutical sciences”.
Professor Artursson is one of five new fellows in pharmaceutical sciences. His research focuses on mechanisms of drug transport, pharmaceutical profiling, and the prediction of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion properties of pharmaceutical compounds.
The full jury citation reads: For distinguished contributions to the field of pharmaceutical sciences, particularly in establishing model experimental systems, and theoretical and computational models for predicting the mechanisms of drug absorption and disposition.
This year, 391 members of the AAAS have been made fellows for their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications. New fellows will be presented wih an official certificate and a rosette pin at the 2017 AAAS Annual Meeting in Boston.
