The European Commission’s proposal for the ninth framework programme for research and innovation, which is part of a long-term budget 2021–2027, has sparked a joint statement from 14 European university networks.

The framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe, is central to the universities and how they can contribute to Europe’s long-term goals. The universities now in a series of points call on the European Parliament and the Council to make sure the programme is the best it can be.

The universities, among other things, wish to see an increased total budget and increased funding of the ERC and Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) programmes.

Uppsala University is a member of three of the 14 networks: the EUA, Coimbra and the Guild.
