Iain Cameron, Professor of Public International Law, was on 4 September awarded the Thuréus Prize in an amount of SEK 100,000 for “significant research efforts in relation to human rights, and police and security issues”.

The Thuréus Prize originates from a donation made by the late physician and Uppsala student Sven Thuréus through the formation of the“ Lilly och Sven Thuréus fond för Natur och Kultur” [Lilly and Sven Thuréus Foundation for Nature and Culture].

The Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala was founded in 1710 and is the oldest scientific academy in Sweden. Among other things, the Society supports research of the highest quality by awarding prizes and distinctions to deserving researchers.
