2018 awards and distinctions
Each year Uppsala University awards prizes, distinctions and medals to people who have promoted research, education or development at Uppsala University. The 2018 awards were recognised at the doctoral degree conferment ceremony on 25 January 2019.

The Torgny Segerstedt Medal to Peter Wallensteen
This year the Torgny Segerstedt Medal goes to Peter Wallensteen, a post-retirement professor at Uppsala University. He receives it for his extensive contributions to peace and conflict research.
Linnaeus and Rudbeck medal winners designated
The Rudbeck Medal will be presented this year to Professors Per Artursson, Kristina Edström and Lars Engwall, while the Linnaeus Medal will be presented to Professor Leif Andersson.
New Oscar prize-winners designated
Uppsala University’s Oscar Prize for young researchers in 2018 has been awarded to Weronica Ek at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology and Ylva Söderfeldt at the Department of History of Science and Ideas.
Göran Widmalm receives the Ulla and Stig Holmquist Prize
Göran Widmalm, Professor of Organic Chemistry at Stockholm University, has been awarded the 2018 Ulla and Stig Holmquist Science Prize in Organic Chemistry.
