Index to the Manuscript Collection now in digital form
Now you can search and find our manuscripts in Index to the Manuscript Collection in digital form. The Index is an overview and orientation tool in the library's different catalogues of the manuscript collection. In the Index you can also request materials for study in the Special Collections Reading Room.
Index to the Manuscript Collection is a collection of keywords which leads to the manuscript collection of Uppsala University Library. The manuscript collection consists of single manuscripts as well as entire archives.
The Index is divided into two sub-collections - one collection of general keywords, and one collection of names of Swedish monarchs. It is scanned from original folios on paper. These are mainly handwritten.
You can request manuscript materials for study in Index to the Manuscript Collection.You can also use an order form on the Library’s website with information from the catalogues of the manuscript collections. For requests of digital copies, you use another digital order form on the Library's website.

What materials are not in the Index?
Index to the Manuscript Collection does not completely cover the collection of letters. For this collection there are special catalogues. Alvin, a platform for digitised cultural heritage, works as a complementary catalogue, to Index to the Manuscript Collection. For best result, search in both Index to the Manuscript Collection and Alvin. New materials aquired by the Library are registred in Alvin only,
