More Uppsala Researchers Join the Young Academy of Sweden's Board

The new vice chair is Sanna Koskiniemi, senior lecturer in cell and molecular biology at Uppsala University.

The new chair, Magnus Jonsson, is associate professor in organic electronics at Linköping University. He succeeds Maria Tenje, senior lecturer at Uppsala University’s Department of Engineering Sciences.

“As chair, I look forward to leading the academy going forward; with resource allocation, recruitment and qualifying positions examples of issues that need to be addressed,” he says.

The coming financial year will to a large extent be characterised by work on the forthcoming research bill. As early as August, the academy will be arranging its annual summer research school, Forskarmöten, and an academy meeting will be held in the UK in November. There will also be a great deal of work conducted on the academy’s four pillars: research policy, internationalisation, interdisciplinary activities and outreach.

As the academy’s members are often in a very intensive phase of their careers, appointments as chair, vice chair and Academy Board member are limited to one year. In addition to Magnus Jonsson and Sanna Koskiniemi, the new Academy Board consists of Steffi Burchardt (associate professor of structural geology, Uppsala University), Jonas Olofsson (associate professor of psychology, Stockholms University), Mia Phillipson (professor in medical cell biology, Uppsala University) and CEO Anna Wetterbom.
