Winner of the 2019 Geijer Prize Named

The Geijer Prize for history 2019 has been awarded to Mia Kuritzen Löwengart for her doctoral thesis A Matter of Social Urgency: The emergence of a symphony orchestra and concert house in Stockholm, ca. 1890-1926 and Hedvig Widmalm for her doctoral thesis Exploring the Mores of Mining: The Oeconomy of the Great Copper Mine, 1716–1724. The prizes will be awarded at the Winter Conferment Ceremony.
The Geijer Prize is awarded every three years to researchers at Uppsala University who, during that three-year period, have earned a PhD with a thesis within the subject of Swedish history considered particularly notable.
The prize jury for the 2019 Geijer Prize in history consisted of Margaret Hunt and Lars Magnusson, professors at Uppsala University, and Hanna Nilsson, first curator of the Norrland Nation.
