Two confirmed case of COVID-19 linked to Uppsala University

Two confirmed case of COVID-19 linked to Uppsala University has now been reported. It is a member of staff at the Faculty of Pharmacy and a student at the Department of Business Studies.


The member of staff at the Faculty of Pharmacy was infected by the coronavirus while travelling in northern Italy. They are receiving care at home and are reported to have relatively mild symptoms. They have not been at work since falling ill and the communicable disease control authorities in Region Uppsala do not consider contact tracing to be necessary.

Uppsala University has a second confirmed case of COVID-19, a student at the Department of Business Studies who had been in northern Italy. The student is doing well under the circumstances and will stay at home in quarantine until declared cured, in accordance with the instructions of the communicable disease control department at Region Uppsala. The student has not been at the department since falling ill.
